The RealPlate Italian Influence

The RealPlate Italian Influence

RealPlate was started by a mixed Italian and British household – one that genuinely cares about food, but also has a busy week to get through. That combination shapes how the recipes come together. We're not trying to recreate traditional Italian cooking, more to borrow some of its habits for everyday meals.

In Italian cooking, vegetables aren't an afterthought. They're cooked properly, seasoned well, and often finished with olive oil. Meals tend to be simple – built around a few ingredients that work together, rather than long lists and complicated steps.

That approach carries through into RealPlate. You'll notice:

It's not an Italian recipe site, though. The recipes pull from a mix of influences – British and more broadly multicultural dishes that fit how people actually eat in the week. One night might be Mediterranean, the next a curry, a chilli, or something more familiar.

The Italian influence shows in how the food's approached, not just in what the dishes are: keep things simple, use ingredients properly, and make meals that feel complete without needing extra thought.
